Mary Jane Hopkins, ARNP, MSN, Associate Professor,
received her BSN from Hunter College – Bellevue School of Nursing in
New York City and her Masters Degree in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner
education from Florida Atlantic University. She has taught at IRCC since
1992 in both the Practical Nursing Program and the Associate Degree
in Nursing Program. Mary Jane currently teaches Fundamentals of Nursing,
the first course in the Associate Degree program. Mary Jane received
the BankAtlantic Endowed Teaching Chair in 2003 for the coordination
of an Internet Associate Degree Nursing Program. Mary Jane is the current
President of District 24 of the Florida Nurses Association, Secretary
of the Treasure Coast Nurse Practitioners Society, a member of Sigma
Theta Tau – the International Honor Society of Nursing, the Treasure
Coast Hospice Ethics Committee, and a member of the St. Lucie County
Diabetic Coalition.
Maria Seidel, ARNP, MS, Associate Professor,
received her BSN from Northern Michigan University in 1976. Her Master
of Science Degree, with a major in Nursing, and Nurse Practitioner education
was completed at Florida Atlantic University in 2000. She has taught
at IRCC since 1994. She worked 17 years as a staff nurse and charge
nurse in acute care settings, such as Emergency Department, Intensive
Care Unit, and Progressive Care Unit. Maria currently teaches Fundamentals
of Nursing, the first course in the Associate Degree program Maria is
the current Secretary of District 24 of the Florida Nurses Association,
a member of: the Treasure Coast Nurse Practitioners Society, Sigma Theta
Tau – the International Honor Society of Nursing, the Treasure Coast
Hospice Ethics Committee, and the St. Lucie County Diabetic Coalition.
Maria is a recipient of IRCC’s 2005 Instructional Innovation Award for
her participation in the development of the online Associate Degree
in Nursing Program.
