Born in Mississippi, Dr. Henri Sue Bynum earned a B.A. in French, Spanish, and English, an M.Ed. in Education and French, and a Ph.D. in Secondary Education and Comparative Literature from the University of Southern Mississippi. She taught at the secondary, undergraduate, and graduate level before coming to Indian River Community College (IRCC) in 1987.
At IRCC, Dr. Bynum has taught courses in reading, education and French. She is a pioneer in E-learning and alternative teacher certification and has presented papers at both national and international conferences. She served as Chair of the Gordon Rule and was a Minority Teacher Education Specialist. Her most recent instructional assignment was as Chair and Professor of Education. She held the position of Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences at IRCC for 5 years and is currently the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
